FileTek Affirms Support for Sony's AIT Drive Enhancements - StorHouse® to Manage Data on New WORM Media
Rockville, MD (May 14, 2002)- FileTek, Inc., a data storage and access management systems provider, today announced that its StorHouse® software product will support Sony Electronics' new Advanced Intelligent Tape™ (AIT) drives that incorporate write-once-read-many (WORM) features. Expected general availability for both StorHouse support and the enhanced AIT drives and media is July 2002.
Adding WORM technology to Sony's AIT-2 and AIT-3 products will allow companies to cost-effectively meet stringent U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requisites for keeping digital documents in a safe and unalterable state. For example, current SEC regulations mandate that brokerage and investment firms store e-mails associated with transactions in an unedited condition for six years
