FileTek Receives Two Network Products Guide 2009 Product Innovation Awards

StorHouse/RM Wins in the Database Category and Trusted Edge Wins in the Information Governance Category

Rockville, MD – May 19, 2009 – FileTek announced today that Network Products Guide, industry’s leading publication on information technologies and solutions, has named StorHouse/RM and Trusted Edge® Information Classification Engine (ICE) winners of the 2009 Product Innovation Award in the Database and Information Governance categories respectively. This annually venerated award recognizes and honors vendors from all over the world with innovative and ground-breaking products that are bringing essential and incremental changes and are setting the bar higher for others in all areas of information technology. StorHouse/RM is a comprehensive relational archive data store that provides timely online SQL access through existing database applications to historical information migrated from operational databases, including DB2, Oracle, and SQL. The product seamless extends operational relational database platforms, facilitates historical relational data access and availability, reduces primary database size, and optimizes performance. Trusted Edge ICE is a best practices information governance solution that cost-effectively extends content control and legal hold management to content created and stored at the “edge” of corporate networks – where more than 80% of electronic information originates and resides. By incorporating a comprehensive policy-driven engine, sophisticated classification capability, and auto-tagging and asset branding technology, Trusted Edge provides a holistic approach to information compliance, content retention and disposition, and legal hold. “Innovation is clearly an important factor for greater success and has the most impact on staying competitive," says Rake Narang, editor-in-chief of Network Products Guide. “Innovative products such as StorHouse/RM and Trusted Edge ICE are bringing improvements in database extension/management and the classification, capture, retention, and disposition of information at the network’s edge.” “FileTek is proud to accept the Product Innovation Award for StorHouse/RM and Trusted Edge ICE. About StorHouse/RM

StorHouse/RM works in conjunction with the FileTek StorHouse® data management and digital preservation system specifically designed to administer massive amounts of structured and unstructured fixed content; near-line, historical and persistent archive data; and their associated backup and disaster recovery requirements. The StorHouse technology suite combines industry-leading, scalable storage devices and Open System processors with storage management, relational database management, and file system interface software components. No application program interfaces (APIs) are required. The StorHouse/RM approach to relational data management is unique and flexible by design. It provides a more dynamic and efficient database extension strategy than classic hierarchical storage management (HSM) products, which typically store offloaded historical data offline. With HSMs, any access to offline data requires retrieving targeted data from the HSM system, moving it back to the relational database server, and then reloading it into the relational database – all before a query can be executed. With StorHouse/RM, no reloading of data is necessary. Users or applications can submit a single query to access information in both their operational database and StorHouse/RM at any time. In addition, StorHouse/RM can be used as a centralized data store for information from more than one data source. For example, once loaded into StorHouse/RM, relational data becomes available to any application that can pass SQL-based queries to StorHouse/RM databases. This means that Oracle data offloaded to StorHouse/RM can be used in conjunction with offloaded DB2 or SQL Server data without the need to maintain multiple copies in different database formats.

About Trusted Edge ICE

Trusted Edge ICE helps organizations address the biggest challenge to implementing their records governance program: enforcing their policies across the enterprise and ensuring user adoption. It provides content disposition and litigation hold policies for information managed by industry-leading content management systems. When repository retention schedules expire, Trusted ICE can dispose of convenience copies on desktops, laptops, and file shares by digitally shredding files in a method that complies with the U. S. Department of Defense Standard 5015. For legal hold, Trusted Edge ICE can lock down desktop files in place to ensure data integrity and maintain a proper custodial chain. For tracking purposes, Trusted Edge embeds each file with a unique asset identifier for forensic authentication, uploads classification metadata with the asset, and stores another copy of asset metadata on the Trusted Edge Administrative Server for use with eDiscovery, forensic, and analytical reporting tools. Trusted Edge ICE is unique because it provides automatic classification, end-user defined classification, or both. Many competitive solutions offer only one approach. With Trusted Edge ICE, customers can design a specific classification strategy based on their specific internal needs and business rules. In addition, Trusted Edge supports an organization’s federated storage architecture. It can control document and email routing and storage across multiple repositories based on enterprise-wide policies.
