MEDITECH Selects FileTek as its U.K. Distributor- Company will act as Sales Agent and Integrator for MEDITECH's Health Care Information Systems (HCIS)

London, U.K. (July 23, 2001) - FileTek, Inc., a data storage and access management solutions provider, and Medical Information Technology, Inc. (MEDITECH), a health care information systems technology supplier, today announced a joint agreement that appoints FileTek as MEDITECH's distributor within the United Kingdom. As such, FileTek will provide added sales and integration services to future MEDITECH business opportunities in the National Health Service (NHS) and private health care sectors. It is anticipated that this agreement will provide over £24 million ($34 million) of revenue to FileTek over the next five years.

MEDITECH software is currently installed at ten medical facilities in the U.K., helping the National Health Service (NHS) digitize, organize, and allow secure access to patient records regardless of geographic location. Using technologies from both companies, (including FileTek's StorHouse® data management software,) medical facilities will have the opportunity to comply early with the NHS strategy for Electronic Health Records (EHR) targeted for 2005. Total funding by the NHS for this information technology upgrade is set at £1.1 billion ($1.4 billion) over the next three years.
