FileTek and XACCT Partner to Provide Carrier-Class CRM to Service Providers - Combination of XACCTusage and StorHouse products provides effective Customer Relationship Management Solutions

Rockville, MD (May 16, 2000) - FileTek, Inc., a leading supplier of database software for managing massive amounts of data, and XACCT Technologies, a leading provider of intelligent business infrastructure solutions for IP networks, today announced a strategic alliance. Under the terms of the agreement, XACCT and FileTek will integrate their software products to provide service providers with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions.

Business Infrastructure for Value-based Services

The XACCTusage platform provides a single point of interface between the back-office Business/Operations Support Systems (BSS/OSS) and the network infrastructure for usage data collection, automated user account provisioning, and pre-payment processing.

XACCTusage's multi-source, multi-layer architecture and business-policy-based record synthesis capabilities enable it to extract comprehensive usage information from numerous network devices at all layers of the network-from the physical layer to the application layer-in real-time, and to synthesize that information to produce meaningful billing records, called eXtensible Detail Records (XDRs™).

XDRs are analogous to the Call Detail Records (CDRs) generated by the telephone switches. The XDRs are used by the billing applications to create service-specific, usage-based bills for a wide variety of IP-based services and applications such as VoIP, video, and virtual private networking.

FileTek's Easy Access Software Enables Cost-effective Management of Atomic Data

FileTek's StorHouse cost effectively stores and manages multiple terabytes and petabytes of transaction-level detail, known as atomic data, making it the only practical and proven approach for managing extremely large data warehouse implementations. Unlike alternative technologies, StorHouse can scale in size to meet customer needs for atomic data while keeping storage management and administration costs down by providing ready access to the information necessary for improved decision-making.

By combining Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) techniques with the benefits of Relational Database Management Software (RDBMS), StorHouse allows customers to access a single row of data regardless of the database size and location within the hierarchy of storage technology. StorHouse then quickly and efficiently moves the atomic data to the applications that profile the individual customer behaviors required in the one-to-one marketing technique of effective CRM.

Since StorHouse was designed to manage enterprise-wide detailed data within its Atomic Data Store (ADS) repository, companies can continually access, store, and exploit the business information generated by XACCTusage.
