StorHouse Wins 2000 IT Product of the Year - MS Award Presented by the High Technology Council of Maryland

Rockville, MD (April 17, 2000)– FileTek, Inc. today announced that its flagship software product, StorHouse®, was given the Information Technology Product of the Year Award for 2000 from the High Technology Council of Maryland. The award was presented last Thursday during the Council's Annual Dinner held at Indian Springs Country Club. Bill Thompson, CEO and Founder of FileTek, accepted the award which was presented to him by Lt. Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend of Maryland and Robert E. Lohfeld, Sr. Vice President of OAO Corporation.

In his presentation remarks, Mr. Lohfeld said, "StorHouse has made a revolutionary contribution to the database industry by enabling organizations to cost-effectively retain years of detailed information while maintaining rapid access to that information."

In accepting the award, Mr. Thompson responded that, "StorHouse was conceived more than five years ago, and it has taken much sweat on the part of our developers and other FileTek departments - not to mention many late nights - to make this software the great product it is today. We are very honored by this award, and I can assure you that we will display it prominently at our corporate headquarters."

StorHouse is the only storage management system incorporating a relational database capability that allows direct access to rows stored across all storage media (e.g.,tape, RAID, optical). FileTek designed StorHouse to manage terabytes to petabytes of enterprise-wide atomic or detailed data, enabling the storage and exploitation of exhaustive business information, such as: Internet clickstream detail data, telephone call details, market basket data, and financial transactions.
